 Double Opt-In

When a user signs up on your site for either a full account or just a newsletter, it’s possible to submit incorrect or fake information. To prevent Boomtrain from emailing non-existent addresses (and degrading your domain health), we recommend setting up double opt-in confirmations for new users. Boomtrain Marketing Engine allows you to use this best practice tool. We will import all users who sign up on your site, but only users who have confirmed via email will receive newsletters and notifications from you. This guide will walk you through the steps of setting up Double Opt-In.

  1. Reach out to your Boomtrain support team at [email protected] We’ll need to activate this tool from our admin account to get you started. We’ll let you know once the setting is turned on.
  2. Ensure that Boomtrain is receiving startedmembership events into your account.

  3. Create a Triggered email that will automatically send whenever a user performs the startedmembership activity.

  4. In your email message, you must include the optin_link. This is a page hosted by Boomtrain but which links directly back to your users. Anyone who follows this link will automatically be confirmed as a subscriber. Insert {{optin_link}} in your outgoing confirmation email.

  5. Make sure you mark this email as transactional. This is important because since the user is not fully subscribed yet, our mailing service needs to know that we’re not sending unwanted communication to your users, which would violate SPAM regulations. Full tracking and metrics will still be available.

That’s it! No need to host a confirmation page or set up any extra code on your end. Simple!
